The extraordinary view that Slavnik offers us is especially tempting in good weather, in a clear atmosphere and with good visibility. To the east we can see Javornike, Trojica and Snežnik, a little further to the south the Kvarner Gulf and to the south via ?i?arija Istria. To the west, our view reaches the sea, the Gulf of Trieste, but if we move north, our eyes see the Dolomites, Julijce with Triglav and Karavanke, and in front of them Nanos, the Karst hills, Vremš?ica, Brkine and Matarska podolje.

Access
Leave the Ljubljana-Koper highway at the Kastelec exit, then turn towards the village of Podgorje at the first intersection. The path is well marked, you just have to follow the signs. The road will take you past the quarry and after several kilometers of straight road you will cross the railway tracks and... you will already be in Podgorje! Drive across the village and turn right at the asphalt playground, where the parking lot is marked. From the parking lot, head right into the village, where the signpost will direct you between the houses and further into the forest. The ascent is moderate, in the direction of the east. Higher up, the forest ends, and the path turns in a northeasterly direction and passes into vast meadows. At the foot of the hill, you will have a beautiful view to the south and west, after which the path will already lead you towards the beautifully visible Tum's cottage with a tall antenna tower just below the top of the mountain. Follow the markings!

For the return trip, you can choose a slightly longer and gentler route, which is also part of the European footpath E6 and is partly turned into a forest road.
