We are in Pianoro, in the Bolognese Apennines, along the Futa road in the direction of Florence. The territory winds between two valleys located on the Zena and Savena streams. Here nature is particularly varied, areas of badlands alternate with sandstone ridges of remarkable beauty.
Among the most characteristic places to visit near our farm stand the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi and the Calanchi dell'Abbadessa, the largest karstic park in Emilia-Romagna which includes the territories of the municipalities of Bologna, San Lazzaro di Savena, Ozzano dell ' Emilia and Pianoro, where you can also visit the Grotta del Farneto.
Also of considerable interest is the Reserve of the Contrafforte Pliocenico, a natural reserve that extends over 700 hectares in the area of ??Badolo (Sasso Marconi). About twenty kilometers from Loiano is the panoramic Monte delle Formiche, overhanging between the Idice Valley and the Val di Zena, on which stands the medieval sanctuary of Santa Maria di Zena. In the 16th century a hermit lived in a cave carved out of the rock on which the sanctuary stands and where even today his signature engraved on a wall can be read. From the Monte delle Formiche an ancient path winds its way to the medieval village of Castello di Zena.
Not to be forgotten is also the Montesole park in Marzabotto, about 30 kilometers away, a historic regional park, a place of memory immersed in a natural context of great importance. Also in Marzabotto is the national Etruscan museum "Pompeo Aria", which preserves in an extraordinary way the urban layout of the ancient city of Misa.
In Monterenzio, which is 28 kilometers away, we have the “Luigi Fantini” Civic Archaeological Museum, which illustrates the history of the Idice and Zena valleys by displaying materials recovered in the excavation campaigns of the Etruscan-Celtic settlement of Monte Bibele.
In San Lazzaro di Savena, about 15 kilometers from the agriturismo, there is the Museum of Prehistory "Luigi Donini", dedicated to the Prehistory and Protohistory of the Bolognese Apennines. Finally it is important to mention the Way the Way of the Gods, a hiking trail of about 130 km, today one of the main tourist attractions of the Apennines, which starts from Bologna to reach Florence through the Apennines.
We are also close to many cities of national and international interest such as Bologna (from which we are 17 km from its spectacular medieval historic center), Florence (100 km), Ferrara (70 km), Faenza (65 km), Ravenna (90 km ) and Modena (65 km), as well as smaller but equally interesting centers such as Loiano, Marzabotto, Cento, Castel San Pietro Terme, Imola and Dozza Imolese.
