Fossane is a farm beautifully situated between the mountains in Ryfylke on the south-west coast of Norway. We have three unique traditional Norwegian cabins for rent: houses which are 100 years old with original wooden walls and the old atmosphere. All the cabins have shower and a toilet and a fully equipped kitchen. Some furniture is as old as the cabins. Here at Fossane, charm and comfort come together.

At Fossane you will taste rural life. You can hike to our mountain cabin Subbeli or take a boat trip with our rowing boat in the Giskeli Lake. The river provides fishing spots and a lot of swimming possibilities with its waterfalls, rocks and tubs. We like to say that we have an outdoor waterpark in the river. At our farm we have some sheep.

Nature in Ryfylke mirrors nature of Norway. Here you will find it all, steep mountain sides and green fields, wild rivers, waterfalls, lakes, deep fjords and islands. Nature offers a variety of activities. The area has a lot to offer: great walks to Skomakernibbå, Ritlandskrateret or Trodla Tysdal, driving the National Turistroad Ryfylke Rv13, visiting Eventyrskogen (fairytale woods) and Preikestolen and a lot more.

Jonsenhuset, Folgå and Bjødlandsfolgå are real and about 100 years old houses. But even though they are old, they have electricity, hot and cold water and modern bathrooms and kitchens. The houses have been restored over the last 10 years, but the old timber walls and the old atmosphere are still there. Some of the furniture is as old as the houses.

Staying at Fossane you will drink the clean water from our own well. The electricity that you use is sustainable from our own hydro powerplant, and the wood you use for the fireplace is from our own forest. You cannot get closer to nature!

The white house Jonsenhuset was moved to Fossane in 1920. The house was built up again and you still can see the signs of that process. Jonsenhuset comes from Jøsenfjorden but we do not know exactly where and we do not know the exact age of the house. 

Jonsenhuset has two floors. On the ground floor there is a bathroom with bathtub, shower and toilet, an extra toilet, kitchen, stove, living room, reading room, hallway and stairs up. 
On the second floor there is a sitting space. A double room with a double bed. There are to rooms under the roof which makes the rooms small. A single room (entry through the double room), and a double room. 

Jonsenhuset has a fully equipped kitchen, refrigerator and freezer, coffee maker, kettle, stove with oven, wood stove, heaters on electricity, washing machine. 

The house is rented out all year round. 

Fossane gard is located in Vormedalen, about 20 minutes from Hjelmeland and 1.5 hours from Stavanger. We hope you will spend a few days with us, so that you can find peace and that you can experience everything we have to offer.
