Santa Maria Island will soon have another beautiful Rural Tourism space – Country Houses . This is the QUINTA DO FALCÃO, a space in recovery and which will provide guests with unique experiences of rest and vitality.
This prominent farm on the island of Santa Maria, of neo-classical style, consisting of a Manor House in a rustic style, and several annexes, formerly used for agricultural activity, dating from the 17th century. XVI , erected by the 11th Captain Donatário, João Falcão de Sousa, and remaining in the Câmara Falcão family, Sousa Coutinho and, currently, Gago da Câmara.
The property is located on a large plot (with wooded areas, pastures and streams), with an excellent location, between Praia Formosa and Vila do Porto , and with stunning panoramic views that reach the Atlantic Ocean to the west.
Quinta do Falcão is located in Almagreira, a parish known as the heart of the island, due to its centrality. Praia Formosa is about 3Km away and Vila do Porto about 4Km. The Airport 8Km. There is a café, a mini-market and a restaurant nearby, within 200 to 300 m, with a take-away meal service. The public transport service finds a bus stop right in front of Quinta do Falcão. Quinta do Falcão consists of a Manor House and adjoining buildings, rustic in style, dating from the 17th century, accessible by a large neoclassical portal and a long cobbled and walled path, commissioned by the 10th Captain Donatário, João Falcão de Sousa, on a large plot of land (with wooded areas, pasture, Ribeiro), located in an urban area, between the Bay of São Lourenço and Praia Formosa, and the center of Vila do Porto. Quinta do Falcão is a building that is subject, by the Regional Secretariat of Education and Culture of the Regional Government of the Azores, to a procedure for classifying a Property as of Public Interest, in view of its historical-patrimonial, cultural and architectural value.

The Space has a privileged panoramic view, to the west, of the Atlantic Ocean. The entire space guarantees an exclusive reserve and intimacy, endowed with tranquility and serenity conducive to rest and leisure. In this initial phase, Quinta do Falcão has a crocket field, a space originally from the house, and walks through the Quinta, through its pastures, woods and stream with about 8 hectares. It also has a leisure area with a floral pergola, for reading, rest and recreation, and a viewpoint adjacent to the road. Soon, it will have a swimming pool served by a large stone and masonry counter, which will function as a pleasant space for leisure and contemplation, facing west, with sun loungers, umbrellas and other props.
