Guest house "de Veenstraal"

At the foot of the Hondsrug in the Hunze valley, detached cottage on private property. This rural cottage is for four people, a family or couples traveling together. The bikes can be charged electrically in the hall. The dog is also welcome! The ground floor is fully equipped with tiles. There is a wood burner and a simple kitchen unit with a fridge, electric hobs, kettle, coffee machine and coffee pods and oven. From behind the kitchen counter you can immediately look into the pasture, where ponies graze. The cottage is fully furnished and equipped with enough bed and kitchen linen, towels, toilet paper and ecological cleaning products. The upstairs bedroom can be reached via the staircase and equipped with a double box spring (160x200) and carpeting. Downstairs is a second bedroom furnished with a double box spring (140x200) and the living room has a double (sleeping) couch. There is a separate toilet room and a bathroom with shower and sink. Free WiFi and TV. The cottage has its own piece of garden with chestnut wood fencing, ideal for the dog. The terrace is equipped with table, chairs and cushions.

Children up to 4 years old free of charge with their own bed / bedding. A mattress can be placed in the room.

Area:

In the immediate vicinity of the nature house, the mill of Gieterveen is worth a walk. On Sundays there is often a miller at work. Gieterveen is just in the area of ??Geopark De Hondsrug. We define this as the largest open-air museum in Europe, since the culture here is along the road. Think of the hunebeden and other remains from the ice age. A visit to the Hunebedcenturm in Borger is recommended. The Aa and the Hunze are broad streams that provide a beautiful landscape image. Recently people started to meander, so there are more birds and also the otters have returned in Drenthe. The vast forests with natural pools attract many families with young children. Anyone who loves small-scale galleries and workshops is right here. But even if you are considering going to Schiermonnikoog for a day, that is possible from the house. An hour's drive by car to Lauwersoog. So you can also join a day at the beach. Does the sun shine less? Cities such as Assen (T.T.), Emmen (Wildlands) and Groningen (museum) can be reached within half an hour. Children love Drouwenerzand family park and the outdoor swimming pool in Gieten.

In Gieterveen is no supermarket anymore .. On our way to our nature house you can go to JUMBO Casting, or order your groceries online and pick them up.

Public transport: via line 10 (Assen - Winschoten) you can get off at the Hilte (Driesprong) and walk 2-3 kilometers.

Restaurants can be found in Gieten, Gasselte, Stadskanaal, Annen, and Veendam.

We prefer to rent per weekend (free, sat, sun) or by midweek (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu) but it can also be booked per week or day.

On the ponies that are here can not be driven. In consultation, children can greet the animals in the presence of parents, but we are not responsible for possible startle reactions. This also applies to the chickens. There is electricity on the pasture, but here chestnut wood fence is put in front, so that children are safer.

We do everything to keep our house nice and pleasant! For example, last year we installed a new window with a screen in the bedroom that can be opened and an additional banister, made the garden safer and replaced some pieces of furniture. We'd love to hear you experience the outdoor life here.
